TITLE
Dismantling Barriers to Geometry by Constructing a Box from a Used Greeting Card
DESCRIPTION

Transform greeting cards into boxes to discover and refine geometry concepts and definitions, make conjectures, and answer probing and puzzling questions about parallelograms, rectangles, squares, and quadrilaterals. Utilize ratio, proportion, area, and volume to focus on the relationships among those concepts while participating in this highly interactive hands-on activity to bring back to your classroom. This activity transfers well for use in events outside of the regular classroom with parents alongside younger students. Suitable for teachers of students in grades 4 through 10.
